Why Mind Matters More

Welcome to Mind Matters More, where I offer a comprehensive range of integrated, evidence-based therapies to individuals, couples, and organisations in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area.

Traditionally, we have been told that a healthy body equals a healthy mind but I don't necessarily agree with this statement as I have met many people with healthy bodies who are struggling and I have also met so many people with physical limitations and disabilities who still have amazing fulfilling lives despite their limitations. Stephen Hawking is the perfect example of this, he proved that despite all the physical challenges that he faced throughout his life, he became one of the most famous, the most inspiring, and influential scientists of our time. We have also seen the incredible athletics that took part in the Invictus Games and the Paralympians who have achieved amazing and unbelievable results despite their physical disabilities.

Therefore, my aim is to promote healthy minds and to try to make people understand that they need to pay more attention to their minds than anything else does and to focus on our capabilities and strength rather than shortcomings and weaknesses, I would like us to be able to do away with should haves, would haves and could haves and focus our mind on the here and now.

Despite the relatively recent destigmatization of mental health difficulties, it still takes a great deal of bravery, courage and determination to reach out to a therapist. Seeking help is not a sign of weakness but a clear sign of inner strength.

Consequently, finding the right practitioner is the key to successful therapy. It is vital to choose someone with whom you can build up a good rapport, a psychologist who is trustworthy, warm, non judgemental and empathetic. During our initial consultation session we will decide together if my experience and style of therapy is relevant for your needs.

Talking Therapy Works

People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. Usually people are experiencing a moderate level of discomfort in their lives and have noticed a toll on their work/school performance and in their relationships. Beginning therapy can be scary for some as they are showing a willingness to face tough topics, but for others, it's a huge relief to finally be taking action to move in a different direction.

Therapy isn’t always easy, but I think it's the most worthwhile gift you can give yourself. You would need to find a therapist you can trust and who puts you at ease especially as the relationship you build with your therapist is the most important aspect of all.

With You Every Step of the Way

Deciding to see a therapist is an important step that requires courage as well as acceptance of the difficulties that life might have confronted you with. However, it is not unusual for people to feel anxious when having to book the first appointment. These feelings are normal and a sign that you are starting the therapeutic work.

Anxiety and awareness of something not quite working is the first step in finding a solution and although there are a myriad of myths surrounding therapy, there is also a great deal of evidence and testimonies that show that it works. Therapy can help people of all ages to live a happier, healthier and more satisfying life. I offer a range of interventions to those wanting to move forward and explore issues that may keep them stuck. These issues can be related to emotions or simply to unhelpful patterns or ways of functioning that get in the way of you achieving your goals or full potential.
