My Approach

My Approach to Therapy

My style of therapy is probably different from most therapists as I believe the most important and influential factor in therapy is the rapport and the relationship between the therapist, and, the client.  Therefore, my ultimate aim during our sessions is to provide a safe, non-judgemental environment where we could work together and collaboratively explore the underlining reasons that cause difficulties in your life.

I never have an agenda of my own and my only aim is to help my clients to work through their challenges, and, with my help, to find the right solution to overcome their difficulties.

I recognise the vulnerability in my clients and never see this as a weakness but their strength, as I believe vulnerability to be healing. I offer and also encourage openness, transparency and unconditional positive regard towards all my clients through kindness, empathy, understanding and compassion rather than judgement.

As a rule, I do not wear a suit to position myself as the expert or the fixer and I will be present with you at all times to focus on you and your story rather than thinking about the answers or the solution that I need to provide.

I believe that it is through this presence that I could have a good understanding of you as a person and the cause of your challenges, which, then enables me to discuss the appropriate solution going forward.   This has worked well for me over the past few years and the testimonials from a few of my past clients are reflective of my success.

Although, I have been trained in many therapeutic models, I do not have a preference on any of those modalities over the others. I am a strong believer that every individual is unique and everyone responds differently to therapy and each person would have their own preferences and, therefore, part of my work is to identify this preference and understand what may be more effective for each client.

I have the courage to offer compassion to all my clients and compassion lies in the willingness to see into the nature and causes of suffering in ourselves, in others and the human condition.

Being from a diverse background myself, I highly value and celebrate diversity and always offer an unconditional positive regard to everyone that I work with regardless of their Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Religion, Class, Age, Nationality or Cultural Background. .
